First sorry it took me time, I was sick last week and then i’ve had no time this week end to make the review but today i have :)
I could say it’s my favorite episode for the mythology aspect on this show this year. I still not like this Flocke thing BUT I really enjoyed what we learnt ‘cause of him.
I’ll start with Ben and co.
After Flocke and Richard left, we saw Ilana crying for Jacob, seems she worked for him or maybe he meant a lot for her don’t you think ?
The fact she took the ashes to keep could have two significations.
Like when someone die you can keep it forever or even throw it in the water a way to say “rest in peace”
Or the ashes are maybe what it can protect them from Flocke, maybe he couldn’t approach them if they keep it.
Guess we’ll find out more later...
Ben is back, I mean it’s not like he’s dead and all but after what he did Ben is all “quiet” still lying of course, he said Flocke killed Jacob, but we know he didn’t but i guess Ben is smart enough to know if he said to them he killed Jacob, he could be buried alive lol
Wonder if they’ll find out, he lied, I guess it’s possible and at the same i don’t think it’s important.
Ilana said they’ve to go to theTemple it’s the only safe place now and we’re all ok we know but WHY ? ‘cause of the ashes ? because there is something we didn’t know yet about this place, give us the answer, we got it was safe place just WHY ok ? last season we’ve to know it ! lol
Also she said Flocke is recuiting and we’re all FOR WHAT...let’s find out later in the review.

It killed me a lot to see the Locke’s funeral, i cried because this scene marked the fact he’s gone forever now, no matter we might see him again on the island, it’s Flocke, John Locke the believer died.

Of course you’re Ben, you let free a monster now, someone we can’t figure out what he/it really wants and if he/it is good or bad. For now seems Flocke is bad but as i said on another review, i don’t think he’s the Bad guy. Emerson is amazing and I really can’t hate Ben even if what he did, I love to hate Ben, I know why he did it, Ben wanted to be the chosen one and it appear now well...there is more than one candidates what he could have do if he knew it ? Kill them all to become the one for Jacob ? I don’t think so but what i mean is soon Locke arrived on the island, Ben’s life was screwed in many ways so he killed him because he HAVE to for himself, it’s selfish but it’s Ben. The fact he was the only one to speak about Locke touched me because except the fact he did kill John, Ben said the true Locke was a believer, a man of the faith and he’s gone...
Now let’s talk about the FS
On this life Locke is...well different I do love him but there is something missing in him, this believer aspect, the man of the faith has no one, he has good life, and i’m happy for him but it’s not the life he was supposed to have. Locke was destiny to crash on the island and become this amazing hunter I fall with. At some moment this man is here but it’s like he’s trapped inside him, when he spoke to Rose and she said “So, how about we find you a job you can do?” I wanted to hear him say his line “Don’t tell me what i can’t do !” But here it didn’t happen...I wasn’t disappointed but at this moment i KNEW my Locke wasn’t this man and it’s like put another knife in my heart.
There is also this moment where he’s choosing the color, he chose the green, it remind me of the color of Locke’s shirt he wore a lot on the island and I was nostalgic and then he chose the other one, like he knew he can’t have this one, like i said trapped inside once again...
So Locke is happy, I’m happy for him, Helen and Him were an adorable couple, I was so sad when he learnt she died, maybe in this life 3 years ago she’ll too but at least Locke could have be happy a while. Speaking of death now we got our answer since LA X, Rose will die, she has still cancer and she accepted it, the other Rose accepted it too but it was so sad to see them be HAPPY, i mean don’t get me wrong it’s great to see them happy, lucky (for Hurley) BUT something is definitively wrong here, i can’t put a finger on it but it’s my feeling.
Now let’s talk about Locke and his father. My god... How a man who got paralyzed because of this monster could be all, yes i love my dad, we can invite him for our wedding i was o_O
So now the question is : Maybe cooper did push him and he didn’t feel the building AND he never met Jacob or maybe he did and Locke went in a special Room 23 we never saw and got brainwashed because there is NO way he could forgive him what he did, i mean who could ?
So another mystery in the FS...
When Locke is ready to call Jack a part of me was YEAHHHH go to see him, he’ll ‘save” you and you’ll see your life isn’t supposed this life, Jack will do what he couldn’t do before, he’ll give you faith like you did on the island, role reversed you see ? I dunno now what it will happen but afterall John just met Ben and wow ! this ben is...this ben is an adulte Ben Potter ! Does it mean he never went on the island (under water lyly, under water !!) so he never lose his innocence because Sayid never shot him so this new Ben is a model of honesty ? just WAOUH and Kudos Emerson for it, it was at the same time funny and weird to see it !

Now i’ll end by my favorite part of the episode, The island is well it’s like the first baby, we got the FF and now the FS but the island still always stayed my favorite part.
So now we saw Flockey “walking” or “running” or whatever we can call it well he’s moving fast lol and we see Richard and he’s ready to tell him everything if he follow him. Also when he asked Richard to follow him he said “What I've always wanted. For you to come with me.”So now the question is always wanted and why ? why Richard always said NO ? When ill we get our Richard centric to learn about this man with eyesliner ? I hope soon, i’m intrigued more and more lol
Richard don’t want to but here something happen, we see a kid with blood on his hand looking at Flocke like he murdered him like he was telling him “you did this to me and i’ll haunt you forever” it’s the first time since we know this thing that he’s scared, what does it mean ? It reminded too of the fact Eko saw people he killed in “the cost of living”, we always thought it could be smokey but now we know we’re with him/it and he/it saw this kid so...theory is over...
Richard heard for the first time about candidate and us too and we’re all well John Locke was the chosen one, there is no candidate...
Speaking of candidate....Here where everything starts. So there is several candidate and of course at this moment we don’t know WHO but now we all watched the episode we know
Sawyer is one of them.
Speaking of Sawyer oh my...at this point of the show i could love Kate to come back and give him some slap because he looked like a loser, and what he was doing drinking ? Does he thinks it will erase everything and make him feel better forever ? For a while true, forever, just...WAKE UP SAWYER DAMN IT !
I wanted to kiss Flocke when he said it wasn’t his home, no it wasn’t, it was utopian life without real purpose except having nice diner, friends and responsability, boring life and not the one I could wish for him.
But i was amazed by this drunk man as he could see what I couldn’t see in s5. it’s the first time someone saw Locke isn’t Locke, even if Ben conned him on the past, we’ve another proof the conman in him isn’t dead and he has to come back PRESTO !
Cause Locke was scared. Even when he was pretendin' he wasn't. But you? You ain't scared.

I mean later after they left the house and Flocke promised Sawyer to know why he’s on the island (and changed some underwear and put a nice shirt that kind of clothes i missed after “Lafleur” and which make Sawyer the man I love and not fake as Jean La tulipe was ^^) So yes Is Flocke never scared ?
Guess Sawyer got a first view of it, and what i mean just what Sawyer can see the kid too !!
Doesn’t it remind you the fact 3 years ago he saw also Kate’s horse maybe the horse and the kid mean the same thing at some point : they belong to a past which will haunt people on the island.
Flocke runs after the kid and this kid said “You know the rules. You can't kill him.”
Kill him ? Who ? Sawyer ?
I guess yes but who is this kid ?
At first I thought it could be Jacob, he “killed” him and burnt his body but the spirit of Jacob is still on the island but at the same, why not to appear like the Jacob we know ? the one Hurley can see ?
So maybe this kid isn’t Jacob, maybe it’s future Aaron, afterall Sawyer has a bond with him, he saw his birth, he gave him to Kate, he saved Claire’s life and also Aaron was the “substitute” of Kate. So does it mean Aaron is really special and he wanted to warn someone who cared about him, someone who has purpose most important on the island than drinking and listening music ?
Or does it mean it was James Ford himself ?
I’ll stick with the idea it’s Jacob but not forget this weird idea it could be Aaron because it’s LOST guys and you know what i mean when i say that.
At the same time Richard or what i could call the Bunny Island, yeah sorry but the way he appeared and disappeared it was like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland so he said to him he can’t stay with Locke is not Locke and Sawyer said I know but has answers and Richard is all and Richard who was always like a peace man and relax is all stressed and all

And then Bunny Island heard Flocke coming and he runs (Kate learnt to him or what ?)
But thought Richard left and Sawyer and Flocke plays the game, i didn’t see anyone and i didn’t speak to anyone we’re all wondering what it will happen next with both of them...
And then we see, Sawyer got Richard’s words and he asked him if he read “Of Mice and Men” Same book Ben mentionned to Sawyer when he told him they were on another island also some like who could fit with Sawyer’s mind and maybe wake him up too....
"A guy goes nuts if he ain't got nobody. It don't make no difference who the guy is, long as he's with you. I tell you, I tell you a guy gets too lonely and he gets sick."
The fact Sawyer mentionned his book could have to effect on him :
1)he knows Flocke is playing with him and he wants him to know, you’ll not screw me Smoke !
2)He’s sick but he don’t want to be anymore, he cares about his friend and this man can kill them so he found a way to come back from “loser statut” to “i’m a conman”
I think really it mean both, soon Richard said he’ll kill everyone you care about, Sawyer cares about his friends, he might be angry and sad ‘cause of Juliet’s death but he just can’t watch his friends die so he wants to shoot Flocke and Flocke is all, shoot me to see what it will happen and a part of me was if you do that, he’ll kill you and another was no he can’t, there is rules, he can’t kill you, he NEEDS you.
Flocke plays again with Sawyer’s mind and he said he was a man like him before he was trapped, I think he really was a man before and he was trapped maybe cursed because of something he did, like a sorcerer can curse you because you did something wrong so maybe this man became smokey ‘cause of what he did but does it mean he was Essau ? I think it’s possible but at the same I think Essau and Smokey have a bond but not this way. Future will tell me if i’m wrong or right.
Finally Sawyer followed Flocke and he almost got killed and here you see the guy who don’t care to die or live WANTS TO LIVE ! Why ? Because no matter what he lose, Sawyer has still people to care about on this island and he could die to protect them and here Sawyer is BACK !

When Flocke throw the white stone we know the balance was broken but forever ? I don’t think so afterall there is the candidates...

Why in the hell people could think after he met Richard who warned him, after he saw a kid in the jungle that Flocke can be trusted and what the hell he could get off the island ?
Ok he has enough of the island and he’s meant to be alone we know that, he told us that but the episode shown Sawyer doesn’t want to die, he doesn’t want his friends to be leave behind and also he does want ANSWERS
So we say be close of your friends but more of your ennemy.
And Sawyer is a conman, there is not best candidate to CON Flocke, does it mean Sawyer will have to act like he don’t care of his friends, even help him at some point, probably and people will have doubt in him, Is he really conning Flocke or is he really want to get off the island ? But REAL Sawyer’s fans will see everything behind it, like we could see Sawyer made his best con ever with the Dharma Iniative. So yes i do believe he’ll con Flocke when it will be time.
Who Jacob chose as Know ?
We could think Jin and Sun since he touched both or maybe it was their baby and Flocke wants to get off the island to get her because no matter he said the island has nothing special and no need protection, put the monster outside his cage and he’ll destroy everything so yes he’ll definitively come back after he’ll do what he has to do OFF THE ISLAND.
Who Jacob chose as Shephard ?
Jack ? Afterall he visited him so yes i guess or it could be Christian too but at the same Christian became smokey too i think so i really think it’s Jack.
Now who is the chosen one ?
Well for me they’re all ! Locke was but he died now Jacob chose Hurley at some point, maybe Hurley is ?
Yes he’s BUT i think the candidates are all important, it’s like puzzle and if there is missing pieces it can’t be complete that’s why Flocke wants Sawyer off the island, one piece missing and everything they built will be “destroyed”
I think all of them have different purpose, Flocke just knew they were candidates but I think Jacob played with him too, Candidates have different mission, some to help the others like Hurley helped Sayid, some to protect the others, like Sawyer is doing, some to die for the island like Locke “did” and probably Jack will.
Of course at the end not all candidates will be alive and their mission will be done but i think all of them are necessary, you can’t say one of them is the chosen one. I think ULTIMATELY Jack is ‘cause he’ll have the worst and most important purpose to do : die for the island
And I think Sawyer will have the second one important purpose at the end maybe with one of the others candidates and it will be to protect the island.
So me i don’t see a chosen one but a team chosen by Jacob for a reason, the only one missing is Kate for now but i don’t think she’ll be forso long, i’m sure she has a mission too and I really can’t wait to see more of that soon !
1. Best Answer: [Deep exhale] What a relief! Thanks, UnLocke, for giving us one of the most satisfying answers we've ever gotten from Lost. "The numbers" are a sequence that Jacob assigned to six people from Oceanic 815 — passengers Shephard, Ford, Reyes, Jarrah, Locke and Kwon — who are candidates to replace him as protector of the island. But wait, why those numbers? And why those people? Jin or Sun Kwon? Why isn't Kate on that list? Protect the island from what? Argh!
That was my exact reaction upon watching this episode yesterday. To be honest, I am not a fan of Elizabeth Sarnoff written episodes, and while I do enjoy the mythology, I was not keen on following around Fake Locke and continuously seeing the real John Locke being kicked around like a soccer ball.
Unfortunately, that is what we had to put up with in this episode. Since each episode contains so much I will simply focus on one character, but since Flocke is both Fake and Locke, guess that means two characters this time around.
The episode begins with an ALT-Flash and Locke driving up to his house in his handicap wheelchair. This is the beginning of an episode full of FML worthy events for John. The ramp doesn’t work, he’s just gotten back from Australia, he’s tired and cranky, and in an attempt to just let the chair fall off the ramp, he is flung from the chair into the grass where sprinklers proceed to attack him.
Not a good welcome home, in any case. Helen (!) runs out to help him, and next we see Terry O’Quinn playing ducky in the bathtub while Helen rambles on in the background about them getting married. Judging from what we saw last week of a potential marriage and what we know of Lost (Sayid and Nadia, anyone?) married couples don’t really end up well, engaged couples even less, and not!engaged couples (even after three years, heh heh) even worse.
Here is where we witness something interesting with this Alt-Locke. When Helen removes the card and tells him to call Dr. Jack Sheppard, she says “What are the odds? Maybe it’s destiny.” Maybe it is John. The old John Locke would have snatched up that card and called Jack immediately. This John is far more cynical, more man of science, if you will. He doesn’t think it’s possible to fix him.
Back on-island, Flocke is zooming himself around the Island using Smokey Metro, and is drawn to a house playing rock music and things smashing inside. Is it me or did anyone else imagine punk rock Sawyer in this moment? No, just me? Moving on.
After terrorizing Richard and seeing some kid who could have been an inspiration for Lord of the Flies, Flocke returns to the ugly yellow house where Suliet met its birth and demise. I thought it was a big strange that Richard couldn’t see the boy, but then again, it wouldn’t be the first time. Way back as far as “Man Behind the Curtain”, it seems if you see things on-island that are not there, you are very important.
Maybe you are a “candidate”?
In any case, Flocke enters Sawyer’s house which looks like Motley Crue was its last tenant. “Search and Destroy” plays on the record player, which seems to echo Flocke’s mission in life. Is he “searching” out Sawyer to “destroy” him? Sawyer is very important, if you talk to Dogen and Lennon back at the Temple. He’s on the list, Jacob touched him, and they definitely didn’t want Smokey boy to find him.
Oh dramatic irony, how we love you.
Sawyer is sitting in his dirty underwear, drinking, moaning about his long lost love. Okay, not really, but you can tell that that is what he was thinking. I am getting really sick and tired of how we are supposed to feel for Sawyer when we weren’t shown anything to feel sorry for, to be honest. I can’t buy a three-minute implied relationship as reason for his total decay as a human. Sorry, Lost writers, but you dropped the ball there.
In any case, his grief is enough for Flocke to have a field day, playing on it and saying that he can answer all his questions. Sawyer knows that he is not John Locke because John Locke was scared, even when he pretended not to be.
This is in contrast to the ALT, where John Locke isn’t scared. He is at peace with the fact that he is in a wheelchair and seems more pissed off at the world than scared by it and his place in it. Kind of like…well, kind of like Flocke is. A cynical, glass-half empty man. Just like Sawyer is now. Two peas in a pod.
Sawyer is drinking, and I’m half-expecting him to be walking around in a feathered boa and heels for all his diva-like tendencies in this scene. He says that the reason he’s on the Island isn’t for some greater purpose, as Flocke implies, but because a lot of bad stuff has happened to him, so that’s why.
Well, since he has nothing else to do and Flocke won’t leave his house (which isn’t his house, it’s just a place he lived in, according to Flocke) then Sawyer gets up and goes to put some pants on. Yes please, Sawyer dear, put some pants on. Change your underwear while you’re at it, please. Unless Juliet didn’t do the laundry that day.
They set off on their trek to parts unknown. In the ALT, Locke continues to have the Day from Hell when Randy (what a douche!) fires him for missing a conference in Sydney. He leaves the building with his little box of stuff and finds that his van is blocked off by a massive yellow Hummer. Where have we seen that Hummer before? Oh, I know, one Hugo Reyes. Sure enough, Hurley pops up when Locke can’t even get revenge on him by lowering the handicap ramp down onto the shiny yellow siding.
Since Hurley is such a happy go-lucky guy this time around, he’s more than willing to aide Locke and gives him the number for a temp agency. This scene didn’t really do much for me, but it is interesting to note that in the regular timeline, the “connections” that the Losties had, in this case, seem to be coming true. Hurley and Locke shared Randy as a common link, and now because of him, they meet. Will it be like this for everyone? I hope so, because there are some characters who have connections that I would love to see meet up in the ALT.
Back on-island, the kid shows up, and Sawyer sees him! Is he “special” in the words of Richard, back in season three? He saw someone on-island who might be dead. Flocke is surprised that Sawyer sees the kid, and he takes off. The kid leads him deep into the jungle and here’s where it gets interesting. The kid says “You know the rules. You can’t kill him.”
Who is the “him”? Sawyer? Jacob? Aaron? I think this kid is young Jacob. The Island, when it isn’t Smokey appearing as someone has manifested what appears to be a character’s conscience. Walt showing up to Shannon when she was feeling guilty for letting Vincent run off. The horse appearing to Kate when she was thinking of Wayne and her feelings for Sawyer. Even Ben’s mother ,when he needed and wanted her the most.
Flocke is responsible for killing Jacob, so maybe this is just another Island hallucination. In any case, the kid tells Flocke something he can’t do so I guess we all know what that means….yup. “Don’t tell me what I can’t do!” Flocke screams, echoing his current avatar’s favored catchphrase.
Personally, I think the “him” that the kid was talking about, is not Sawyer, but rather Jacob. You can’t kill Jacob’s spirit, but you can kill his body. He is still there in some form, on the Island, protecting it from the Man in Black/Flocke. Is this form Sayid? Or just in the form of all the Losties who were brought there to perhaps take over Jacob’s work? We’ll see.
Flocke returns to Sawyer, and plays the whole “I didn’t see anything” card, which Sawyer just shrugs off. Before Flocke shows up, Richard appears, in a rather comical scene as he is always so composed and know-it-all. Now he is terrified, telling Sawyer to get out, that all Flocke wants is to use him, and then he will kill him. Sawyer doesn’t really care.
For someone as smart as Sawyer is, he is awfully stupid here (at least on the surface, knowing this show, he's got a plan going on). He knows that Richard has all the answers, and he knows that Richard has been around a very long time through some strange force. So you would think he would put two and two together that if Richard is freaked out by this guy, then there is reason to worry. Or it would have at least crossed his mind that someone walking around in the body of John Locke might not have such a good goal in mind, and it might even involve killing Sawyer.
But Sawyer is so “consumed with grief” that he doesn’t care (on the surface, at least. He could be forming a plan). Although it was nice to see a bit of the old seasons’ past Sawyer with the “Of Mice and Men” reference and pulling the gun on Flocke. Only here, Flocke manipulates him again, bringing up (vaguely) the death of Juliet and manages to walk out unscathed, leading Sawyer away. Oh Sawyer.
In the ALT, we meet up with Rose, who is relatively the same as present-day Rose. She kicks Locke’s ass and says she will help him find a job that fits his needs. She echoes what Locke should probably be doing, by telling him that she got past the denial part of having cancer and is just living her life. Locke seems to take the words to heart.
Now if only they could apply to Sawyer and his grief… (I know, I know, I'm giving him such a hard time, sorry).
Back on-island, at a cliff, Flocke leads Sawyer down a rickety old ladder. “Jacob’s Ladder”, anyone? I thought of it briefly when seeing the episode but I don’t know what it really means here or if it applies in anything other than name alone. Sawyer has a bit of a Juliet-moment, almost falling to his death but unlike her, he grabs hold of Flocke and actually manages to hold on.
They get to the bottom of the cave, where the first thing we see is a set of scales with a black and white stone. Both are even right now, but Flocke takes the white stone and pitches it, claiming that it is an “inside joke.” Well we get it. The Man in Black won, evil beats Jacob. Moving on to more interesting things, Flocke belittles Jacob, and shows Sawyer a list of names all scratched into a wall with numbers (some including THE NUMBERS) and says that that is why he is here.
All the names are “candidates” for the position of Jacob, and include such notables as Reyes, Jarrah, Locke, Sheppard, Kwon, and number 15, Ford. Where are Austen and Littleton? Flocke doesn’t even know if it applies to Jin or Sun Kwon. Was Jacob sexist? Apparently.
Flocke said that the names are meaningless. That they are people Jacob has poked and prodded and manipulated to end up on the Island to protect it. Protect it from what? Well from nothing, says the Man in Black, the Smoke Monster, the black stone. Flocke is lying his ass off here (maybe), to get Sawyer to help him. He says that Jacob poked and prodded Sawyer here, probably at his most miserable moment, and all the choices he then made were what led him to the Island and are why he had such a terrible life.
Basically, Flocke is saying that Jacob represented destiny (I think). That the Losties had no free will here. This seems in contrary to the talk that MIB and Jacob had on the beach. Jacob seems to stand for Free Will. He gave Sawyer the pen, but Sawyer continued to write the letter. He gave Jack the little push of confidence, but Jack was the one that listened. The Losties all had free will, even after Jacob pulled the strings a little. Kate didn’t have to keep stealing and getting away with murder.
What I find incredibly ironic about this scene, is that Flocke is saying that Jacob gets people at their most vulnerable and miserable and then twists them so that all of their choices ultimately aren't even their choices. This is exactly what he is doing with Sawyer now. Sawyer is at his most vulnerable and miserable and Flocke is devouring him whole, getting him to make choices that are not even his choices. It's what Flocke is pushing him and manipulating him do. To join his team.
Flocke says he is trapped that he wants to go home. That Sawyer has three choices. He can do nothing like John Locke did (then he crosses out his name. I guess Locke is no longer a “candidate” as he is dead), accept the job and become the new Jacob (maybe your name gets circled? Or you get a gold star?), or the third option, which Sawyer seems keen on taking before he even hears it, or you can help Flocke get off the Island and go home.
Sawyer takes door number three, and “hell yes” he is going to go home. To a home where nothing awaits him. This moment for Sawyer reminds me of last week’s moment on the dock, when he said some people are meant to be alone. He’s just tempting fate. This sudden urge to go home even when he has admitted that there is nothing there for him, hopefully indicates that he will stay on the Island and not be alone. God knows he deserves a little bit of happiness in his life that is NOT associated with denial and moving on.
Flocke smiles, happy that he has a new recruit. He’s got what he wanted. He has one of Jacob’s Candidates on his side. Now he can begin his path of destruction. Does he need more people? Who else is he going to recruit? If we listen to Dogen, it sounds like he might already have two others on his side, Claire and Sayid, as they are being consumed by darkness, “claimed”, if you will.
Like his ALT counterpart, Flocke is riding the waves of cynicism and is satisfied with what he is creating and doing. Locke, in the ALT, accepts that he is in the wheelchair when he hangs up the phone on Jack’s assistant, and tells Helen that he will never get out of that chair, and she should accept that as well. He gets a job he likes, as a substitute (episode title!) and even looks to be making a new friend in the likes of Benjamin Linus, European History teacher who doesn’t like when people don’t change out the coffee filter (this was the best part of the whole episode).
Much like Locke is the substitute in the ALT, Flocke is nothing more than a substitute as well. Sawyer might even simply be substituting for someone else. Walking away from this episode, I get the feeling that Flocke is even more baddie than we think him to be, and that Sawyer better start watching his own back (even though he really has had little practice seeing as Juliet was always there doing it for him) because before he knows it, he might be getting his name crossed out as well.
Wow Last week Aol tv chose Sawyer and Kate scene at the dock as their favorite, today it's Sawyer's relevation about the numbers and the fact he's Jacob's candidate ! Congrats LOST !
Lost Claire — both of them — sure can pop up at the end of episodes for dramatic effect. First, the pregnant one at LAX, then the zombielike one last week. Jin's doubtlessly thankful, but what's up? And what's up with the two Kates — both with pregnant Claire in L.A. and Sawyer on the island? At the temple, we know that Dogen's focused on Sayid because of Claire, but who is he? Meanwhile, the Locke Monster was missing in action last week, but he/it is back tonight, and Katey Segal (Helen) is in the guest cast.
- We see Hurley and his Hummer and it causes a problem for Locke - We see Rose in this episode and she has a connection to Hurley - This connection is used to help Locke - Rose is not long for "this" world - Locke and Rose argue about him wasting her time - The result of this connection causes John Locke to run into an old enemy

A while back I emailed 10+ contacts/sources and asked them to each send in a little teaser/snippet about Episode 6.04 that they would be willing share with you. also you can get the answer about WHO is jacob's child, i'm disappointed by the answer but it's just me Is Illana being Jacobs child her importance to the island? YES
Does the double meaning in the tittle related to the alt time line, perhaps that Locke or Ben is now a teacher YES

SPOILER ALERT: Sometimes it seems as if “LOST” can only be found at the far end of the Earth (or, at least, the far end of the island). But sometimes, “LOST” comes to you. I rolled into work this morning to find the production crew setting up for a location shoot right up the street from my office. Tucked in the loading dock behind the Gentry Pacific Design Center, a brief scene unfolded amongst some familiar vehicles.
There was a bright yellow Hummer H-2, easily recognizable as the post-lottery purchase of Hugo “Hurley” Reyes (Jorge Garcia). And beside it, the blue Chevy van spotted just yesterday as the wheelchair-ready ride of John Locke (Terry O’Quinn). Parked nearby, a large truck with the word “BOX” emblazoned on the door in red and white letters.
It was the parking lot of the Tustin-based box company that was acquired by Hurley and that employed Locke before the crash.
The scene:
Locke, in his wheelchair, comes rolling out of the building with a box of papers and office supplies on his lap. When he reaches his van, he sees the Hummer parked way too close, blocking his door and ramp. He starts to yell and gesture angrily, at one point throwing something. Then, Hurley — wearing jeans and a dress coat — arrives. Locke is still upset, but they talk. Then, Hurley pulls out a checkbook, writes out a check, and hands it to Locke.
Why was Locke taking a box out of the box company, and why did Hurley pay him? Spontaneous severance? In any case, finally in Season 6, it looks as if the amusing coincidence of Locke working for the same company that Hurley owns is taking on greater meaning.

SPOILER ALERT: “LOST” took over a quiet residential street in Waikele this morning. And groggy as I was stopping by on my way to work, I had to do a double-take: the show had been there before.The very same street was used during Season 2 episode “Lockdown,” where Locke (Terry O’Quinn), working as a home inspector, checked out a property acquired by Nadia. Today, however, Sayid’s childhood sweetheart was nowhere to be seen. Although the location was again California, this time it looked like we were visiting the residence of Locke’s lost love, Helen Norwood (played by Katey Sagal, who posted a note on Twitter that she was in Hawaii yesterday, but since deleted it).
A camera dolly was set into the street, and several extras were coached on how to create the illusion of suburban tranquility. A young blonde girl rode around on her bike, and a little boy in a red shirt rolled past on his skateboard. A mail carrier made his rounds, and another man walked his dog across the street. Over and over and over again.
Terry O’Quinn soon arrived on set, wearing a white dress shirt with blue stripes. He was also carrying an acoustic guitar, but I gather it’s just something the actor plays on set now and then, rather than a prop for the scene. He climbed into a blue Chevy van with a wheelchair ramp, and when action was called, he drove the van around the corner and up to Helen’s house.
The stage was set for a confrontation of sorts, but one I wasn’t able to watch from the corner. I gather, though, that relations between Locke and Helen aren’t much better than they were the last time we saw the two of them together. Indeed, as a crewmember explained to an elderly couple walking through the neighborhood, the scene would end with our hapless Locke tumbling to the ground… just as the lawn sprinklers came on.

SPOILER ALERT: In years past, the “LOST” filming schedule would stretch to six days a week only occasionally, and usually as days run out toward the winter break or the season finale. But things for this final season seems to be especially intense, as we’ve already seen a few Saturday shoots even though we’re only a few weeks into production. And yesterday, two separate units were working on opposite sides of town.
The first shoot was in downtown Honolulu. “LOST” fan and HPU student “Alevermor” caught the set dressing crew at work off Alakea St., in the largely vacated back offices of Hawaiian Telcom, on Friday. A friendly crewmember told her that the Saturday morning shoot would be behind closed doors, but that Terry O’Quinn (Locke) was the scene’s central star. A report from TVOvermind today suggests that Billy Ray Gannon was also there, reprising his role as Locke’s box company nemesis, Randy Nations.
So, the good news for Locke fans is that, in a sense, “old Locke” will return for Season 6. The bad news is that his life, once again, is not a particularly joyous one.
The second shoot was larger and more tantalizing, staged miles away at Waipahu High School. A large group of young extras were assembled (many accompanied by their fortunately talkative parents) to play high school students and a girls basketball team. There was much glee (including one fan who was giving a play-by-play over a cell phone to relatives in Pennsylvania) when the day’s key actors emerged from their respectivetrailers: Terry O’Quinn and Michael Emerson (Ben).
Terry O’Quinn was dressed smartly, in slacks and a dark purple plaid collared shirt. And Emerson was looking similarly snappy, wearing khaki pants and a dark sweater vest over a long-sleeved light blue dress shirt. He was also sporting fairly bookish glasses and a modest head of hair.
Locke and Ben, off island, in what appears to be a post no-crash scene? And with Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello revealing the title of Episode 6×04 as “The Substitute,” I think one or both of these gentlemen may be working in education — wherever or whenever they are.
Of course, “substitute” could apply to many other things fans have been pondering since the end of Season 5. Only sixteen weeks to go…
Updated 5:05 p.m. HST: According to a Twitter post from Kurt Sutter, husband of the actress who “LOST” fans know as Locke’s lost love, Helen Norwood, Katey Sagal in Hawaii right now. A separate account, @kateysagal, also mentions being in Hawaii. Might the Locke and Helen story get a different ending?

I have it on good authority that Billy Ray Gallion A.K.A Randy (Locke's boss, Hurley's Boss and Future employee) filmed a scene with our beloved John Locke (Terry O'Quinn) yesterday. Yes, it was our Locke -wheelchair and all – not that poseur dude in black that was driving around an imitation model last season.
The scene takes place after Oceanic 815 lands safely in Los Angeles and details the taunting that ensues when Locke returns to his box company collections supervisor job to face off with his sneering boss, Randy. Needless to say, things don't go very well… you can take that however you like.
For those that are wondering, the various 'insider' reports so far seem to indicate that the 815′rs are dealing with non-supernatural dramas in the Oceanic 815 landed time-line. Some filming on the island seems to indicate that the other possible outcome - what if the Jughead plan failed – is also being explored. So are we watching two versions of our beloved losties, or does this indicate… gulp… flash-betweens? Only a little better than three months to go people.

Hey All, The LOST crew returned to the infamous beach camp set at Police Beach in Hawaii. When I visited the set last month it was a surreal feeling and now seeing the camp setup to look like it did in the Season 5 Finale, it is an awesome feeling to know how soft that beach sand is and how beautiful it truly is out there!!
Below is a little report and some pics of what took place today. This scene is most likely for Episode 6x04 the Locke centric episode and is a continuation of the Losties leaving the 4-Toed statue with a dead Locke.
NOTE: There is a pic of what looks like Michael Emerson (Ben) or his stand-in on a cell phone and I am pretty sure that it is not a part of the scene unless he is calling Annie. ;)

I was planning on going to just to check out the beach set and to my surprise they were filming! The scene they were filming was of Sun, Frank, and Ilana and Ben walking on the beach. But Ilana and Ben were carrying back Locke's body on the stick wrap thing. (Don't know how to describe it) The only pictures I got were of all of their stand-ins doing the scene and I was only there for an hour.
Also they built up the Losties weathered camp seen in the finale. I think its the same, but I didn't watch the finale and check. They all were in the same clothes so I'm guessing this is a continuation of the nice long walk they took to the four-toed statue. They were probably walking over to it and were walking right in front of Eko's church and next to that is the camp site.

And now, the title of 6.04 (rumored to be Locke-centric) is…
“The Substitute”
What does it mean?! Let’s ask Doc Jensen:
“Well, a substitute is a replacement for something or someone that should be there, but isn’t. Apply that to the Lost story, which left us with a burning question: Did the castaways’ actions in the past — and specifically, Juliet’s detonation of the H-bomb Jughead — change all of Lost history? Maybe season 6 will reveal that the answer is… “Kinda.” Perhaps the history remains largely intact, but with some notable deviations. Perhaps “The Substitute,” then, refers to someone playing the part or fulfilling the role of someone or something that is now missing from the new, rebooted timeline. For example: Walt. Maybe in the new timeline, the castaways still all get on Oceanic 815 and crash on The Island… but among the deviations will be another “special kid” with a problematic relationship with his or her parent, taking the place of Walt. Hence, he or she would be the substitute for Walt. But I am also reminded of the intrigue around John Locke at the end of the season. Ben had killed him, and some Island entity took his place in the Island drama, using Locke’s role as a Trojan horse to get close to Jacob. If this “entity” = Locke’s “substitute,” maybe episode 4 will reveal more about this shape-shifter.”
