Will Sawyer Stay With Fake Locke? Or will he go back where he's "destined," on Team Jacob?
I asked Josh Holloway himself whether his character is ultimately good or evil in the end, and he tells me: "Sawyer is both. He is good and evil. He walked most of his life towards evil, but now he more comfortably walks toward good. But he can always cross the line. It's a very interesting place to play this season, because of the loss of Juliet and the anger, frustration, sadness that's here has brought him back to his original personality of being angry at the world and keeping everyone at a distance." Still, I'm hearing rumblings from reliable sources that Sawyer probably will not be on the dark side of it all at the very end. Phew.

The Flash-Sideways Losties Will Start Getting Some Memories: You didn't think the "Safe 815"-ers would be left adrift forever without any consciousness of what's happened on the Island, did you? They all belong there, after all.

Which five TV shows should busy moms be making room for on their DVR?

1. Modern Family — Not only the best new show of the season, it’s like a comedy support group for new parents. My husband and I die every time baby Lily is on screen.

2. Glee — Because who doesn’t love it? (Straight men who are lying, that’s who.) It always makes me happy.

3. The Office — Pam is pregnant! And that show always makes me laugh.

4. Lost — It’s so mind-consuming you can really forget about dirty diapers and dishes while you’re watching. (And Josh Holloway’s abs don’t hurt either.)

It's not a flashback.

Yes. From what I know so far, I truly think you all will not be disappointed. How's this for a morsel for now: One Lostie we know and love will vow to kill another Lostie we know and love.

Rachel in Rio: I've always been your number one fan, but I'm just so sad with you right now. You put "Jate" in the title of your 11th day of Lost-mas article, and when I opened the link there's a lot of Skate and Suliet spoilers, but nothing Jate. It's OK if you don't wanna or don't have any Jate spoiler to give us, but it's just cruel to do a thing like that. Thank you so much.
I am so sorry. I received many upset emails like this one, and I want you to know this was not an intentional slight. I fully meant to include something on Jate when I set out to write the article, but unfortunately was not able to dig up anything on their interaction, and (mommy brain, sorry!) simply forgot to change the title. The one thing I can tell you is that there seems to be more happening between Sawyer and Kate than Jack and Kate in the beginning of the new season, but as we all know, everything can change in one single episode on Lost, so don't give up hope. I will keep my fingers crossed for you Jate fans that there is something worth squeeing about in season six! And again, my sincere apologies.

Want to know which questions are most likely to be answered by the final hours of Lost, which direction Josh Holloway's Sawyer might be going (romantically and otherwise), and why we fans need to be wary of double-talking producer doubles?

Well, good news then! Lost boss Damon Lindelof and the rest of Bad Robot movie and TV mafia came out to party Monday night at the beautifully lit Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, which was all decked out for the gala DVD/Blu-ray premiere of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek movie, and while the new Star Trek movie was straight awesome, we got so excited by all the TV talent present that we had to also ask them a few burning questions about the final season of Lost, which is set to premiere on ABC in just about two months.

The guys were kind enough to put up with our inquiries, and we're sharing the scoop they spilled about your burning questions...

So What Is Lost's One True Pairing? We find that a lot of good literature follows the same tropes and arcs, so in hopes of getting a teeny-tiny bit of clarity on the final-season direction of some of Lost's major romantic storylines, we asked Lost boss Lindelof to compare Sawyer's love life on Lost to the love story in any other fictional work. "Wow," said Lindelof, "Sawyer's love life compared to any..." (He looked a little dazed at all the possible options, so we threw The Notebook, Jane Eyre and Gilligan's Island at him as totally random starting points for thinking about the question.) "All way off so far!" Lindelof said, "Perhaps the relationship between Gilligan and the Skipper, because there's a lot of hitting on the head with hats...OK. Serious...I think Wuthering Heights is probably a good one then. We've got a little Heathcliff action going on."

Putting aside our memories of the wacky cartoon alley cat, we find Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights an incredibly intriguing answer to this question. Literary scholars: Compare the stories of Emily Brontë's Heathcliff and and Lost's Sawyer so far. Senior shipper analysts, please convene a white-paper committee in the comments section to debate and report on these and other questions: In a metaphor where Heathcliff is equivalent to Sawyer, which Lost character is Catherine Earnshaw? Who stands for Edgar and Isabella? Is there a young Cathy or a Hareton figure in Lost? Can Heathcliff/Sawyer ever overcome his basic wildness? And does this presage a tragic and perhaps lonely end for James Ford? (So much to discuss!)

These and Other Answers, To Come: So what can we expect to learn from the sixth and final season of Lost? Lindelof shared a sneak preview: "The questions that count will be answered, and the questions that the fans don't want answered won't be answered, but I think what they're looking for is a real sense of resolution, particularly on a character level. Who's going to live, who's going to die, who's going to hook up with who, why were they all brought here in the first place, was it arbitrary, is there meaning behind it? That's the kind of stuff [we] have to answer, or [we] should be prepared to get rocks thrown at [us]."

This Is the End, My Friend? When we get to the end of the series, is that the last and final word we'll ever hear about the Island and its denizens from Team Bad Robot? Says Lindelof, "We're going to be out there doing other stuff. Just like right now I'm talking to you about Lost at the Star Trek DVD rollout, we have to be held accountable for our actions. We're not going to go into hiding. I do, however, employ doubles, like Saddam did, so you can never trust that you're talking to the actual Damon Lindelof. That being said, what we don't want to do—and [fellow executive producer] Carlton [Cuse] and I talk about this all the time—is explain what our intention was. At a certain point, it doesn't matter what our intention was, and we want the fans to vigorously debate certain aspects of the show. Some things will be very conclusive, other things people will think are more conclusive than we meant them, and some will be more ambiguous than we meant them, but it wouldn't be Lost if five years from now people weren't still arguing over what they wanted it to be."

Please Don't Shake the Gaily Wrapped Packages Too Hard Please: So how does it feel to be a Lost show runner on the eve of the sixth and final season? Lindelof says it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, telling us, "It's very exciting to us basically. It feels like we've been Christmas shopping for five years, and we've been accruing all these presents, and we've been locking them up in closets and not letting people look at them. And now there's sort of this, ‘Oh my god, do they have one of these already? Did I get the right sizes? What was I thinking when I bought this? Are they even going to like it?' So there's a terror there, but at the same time, Christmas is here and it's time to open up the closet and start unwrapping and we'll see what happens."

Harold Perrineau interview with Kristin about Michael

You gotta love a man who likes to clear the air.

Harold Perrineau just rang up to kindly reveal an answer to our blind item—"Guess Who's Not Returning to Lost?"—which outed a former Lost star as a holdout to return for the final season.

It's not him.

Despite everyone and their mother's brother's lover (even the Los Angeles Times!) assuming Harold (Michael) was the Lost holdout, Harold reveals that he has not turned down an offer to return to the show.

So does that mean he's coming back?

"Honestly, no one has asked," Harold tells me. "But if I was asked to come back to Lost, indeed I would say yes. We all started that journey together, and I would love to be able to end it with everybody. It would be a great thing to do, to get to say goodbye to them all at the same time. I would love to go back and hang out a little bit."

Now, assuming that Lost is resetting the clock as rumored and going back in time to the original Flight 815, it would seem that there may be a serious glitch to bringing Perrineau back: Walt. After all, Malcolm David Kelley, who was a wee 13-year-old when the series started, now looks like he could be playing defense for the Lakers or voicing a Barry White biopic.

"That's what I was actually thinking would probably be the trickiest part," Perrineau says. "I mean, I know they've been going back and forth with time travel, but if we were to go all the way back, how do you do that? You'd have to recast [Walt]. Or do some crazy CGI, like Little Man. That would be weird!"

Despite the hullabaloo over the comments he made after Michael was killed off Lost, Harold tells me he honestly has no beef with the show. "Those people are my family. And not like my twisted, dysfunctional family, but people I totally love, you know what I mean? It was a great show for me and I'm really glad to be part of that."

"There are no hard feelings," Harold adds. "Period. That's the real truth."

Harold called in from Vancouver where he's currently shooting the sequel to 30 Days of Night: Darker Days—yay, vampires!—and is also working on an album "just for fun."

Personally, I would love to see Michael/Harold again before Lost's final credits roll—with or without Walt.

Anyone else feel the same? If so, join me in the comments to figure out a way around this whole Walt conundrum. Maybe we can catch Michael away from Walt hooking up with Sun in a bathroom stall at LAX? Or, ooh, Claymation? (This is why they do not ask me to write the show.)

Oh, and if you must point out the totally obvious Lost holdout (now that you know it's not Harold), feel free to do that too...

Guess Which Lost Star Won't Be Back?

It's the highly anticipated, final (sob!) season of one of the best shows ever on television.

And yet, a certain former star apparently does not want to take part.

Bananas, right?!

Sources close to ABC's Lost tell me that although most of the original cast—holler!—will be seen in some capacity for the show's upcoming season, one former Lost castmember has turned down an offer to return to the series.

So who is it?

Well, you know we can't name names in such cases, but suffice it to say that this is a person you'd assume would very much want to return to the series.

According to my moles, offers went out to the original castmembers several weeks ago, and this particular Lost star decided to decline. While some of the other returning Losties have already filmed scenes, this Lost holdout has not been on the set or filmed anything for the series, according to insiders.

Want one more hint? OK, twist my arm…

I can tell you that it's not the hot Damonic bloodsucker also known as Ian Somerhalder, whom we caught up with recently while he was in Hawaii filming for Lost. "Maybe, just maybe we'll get to see a more-relaxed Boone," he teased to us. "Maybe we'll get to see a Boone who's just happy."

Lost Plane May Crash on Wisteria Lane

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a ratings stunt!

Marc Cherry has confirmed that a plane is going to come crashing down on Desperate Housewives' Wisteria Lane this season, for the show's midseason cliffhanger.

And now ABC sources are spilling this cool little nugget of info: The plane might end up being none other than one from Lost's Oceanic Airlines.

So wait a minute, does that mean that if/when Lost resets this season with an alternate reality (if that hydrogen bomb did actually go off), Jack, Kate, Sawyer and the gang could crash on Wisteria Lane instead of the island?

Sorry, no such luck, Susan Mayer. Jack Shepard will not be dipping his ladle in your special sauce...
The plane's Oceanic branding would just be a fun little Easter egg for Lost fans to find. And while the crossover has yet to be finalized, I'm told the higher-ups at ABC are keen on the idea.

"Everyone loved how well those 'ABC House' promos did last year," one alphabet-net mole tells me, referring to the promo spots in which characters from different ABC series mixed worlds (see above). "We're looking at ways to find more fun crossovers between shows, and so the idea came up to have the Desperate Housewives plane be Oceanic."

What do you think of Lost's mythology filtering into other ABC series? Perhaps Hurley could pay a visit to Modern Family? Smokey's next victim could be treated at Seattle Grace? Or, oooh, I know: How about Charlie or Penny crossing over to Flash Forward? (Nahhh, that'd be too weird.)

And hey, speaking of Lost, any theories on what will happen if the bomb does or doesn't go off? Where will Oceanic Flight 815 end up? The comments are yours for the taking…And if you're really good and eat your vegetables, I may even join you down under.

Lucia: I can't think of anything story-wise I can give away about Sawyer, sorry (other than I know the producers/writers want to give us at least a few more shirtless Sawyer scenes before the show bows out...Thank you, Darlton, thank you). But I can tell you that I ran into Josh Holloway at a birthday party and he and his wife agreed to an arranged marriage between his daughter Java and my son, who are exactly 4 days apart. I guess you guys should hold off on wedding gifts for now (we have a good 20 years), but I'm already working on a shirtless Santa costume for Josh to wear at all our joint family Christmases in the future. It includes assless chaps and a corncobb pipe. That's not weird, is it?

MIKE, I KNOW! I'm hearing from Lost sources that every single shot of the first few episodes are so revealing that the producers have convinced ABC to NOT SHOW A SINGLE FRAME before the new season airs. No promo scenes, no photos, no nada! So you will be completely in the dark, but it is for good reason: The twists they're planning are so good, you will WANT to be surprised. Trust me. Your mind gonna go kaplewey.

Do you mind if we talk about Lost a little bit?
Not at all. I'm literally in Hawaii now. I just landed.

How much are you going to shoot?
I don't know that much. That's the funny thing. I'm going to do several episodes, and [laughs] that's basically all I know.

What do you want the fans to see of Boone that they didn't get to see the past few seasons?
I think that due to Boone's untimely death, I don't think anyone really got to see that there was strength in him, that there was goodness in him that went beyond his obsession with taking care of Shannon. I think that he had a life for himself. There were good things that Boone had to give the world, and I don't think he really get a chance to explore those things. Maybe, just maybe—I'm not sure—maybe we'll get to see a more-relaxed Boone. Maybe we'll get to see a Boone who's just happy. But who knows? I don't know. I really don't know.

Do you think we might see Boone and Shannon together again?
Yeah, that would be great.

Have you seen Maggie Grace at all?
Oh yeah. Absolutely. Maggie and I live very near to each other in California, and we're very, very close friends.

How Many Episodes of Lost Is Dominic Monaghan Doing?

Production on Lost season six doesn't begin for another few weeks, but thanks to Comic-Con, we're starting to get a sense of the new season, including which cast members might be back to cavort in those alternate timelines the producers teased.

Which brings us to Dominic Monaghan's beloved Charlie. His appearance on stage as the grand finale of Lost's panel all but confirmed that Mr. Pace would be back for the final season of Lost. But is it true? And if so, how much might we see of him? Here's what we're hearing...

Sources tell us exclusively that, yes, Dom's deal to reappear on Lost is done and that the original castmember is set to appear in three episodes in season six.

No word yet on the answer to the big question: Is Charlie alive? We'll have to wait until Lost returns to ABC in January 2010 to find out.

Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse did announce that Juliet would be returning this season on Lost. When are we going to see you?
Pretty immediately, and then I'm not sure after that, but I think that it will be satisfactory.

Based on the faux commercials they showed at Comic-Con, it seems that things have been reset. Is Juliet going to have a happy life now?
That would be so amazing. It really would, and I think we've all expressed a desire for that, but you know [Damon and Carlton], they're devious. They're devious little genius little guys, so my feeling is that I don't know, but I'm willing to go along for the ride to find out. I would hope after everything that they put her through that she does have a happy life, but it doesn't always work that way.

Does that mean a happy life with Sawyer?
She was pretty happy, huh? That was awesome.

Do you want to see her with Sawyer?
I don't know. I didn't at all, and now I've watched the episodes [from last season], and I've watched him, and he just captivated me. He was so happy, so in some ways I feel, like, "Good for him!" when she's around.

Are you going to be in many episodes, or is V going to affect that possibility?
V doesn't affect it all. Lost is done. They're set in what they're doing. The success or failure of V doesn't in anyway influence Lost. They've had this last season planned for a really long time, so I think that it will be whatever it is. I'm not sure exactly what that is, but I know that it will be enough that they mention me.

At the 35th Annual Saturn Awards in Burbank, Calif., we asked Lost's Michael Emerson how Ben (who once crushed hard on Juliet) would react to the news that she had nuked herself, and Emerson said: "Ben's no longer in a position to entertain romantic notions. I don't think there's room for romance in Ben's world right now. As much as he admires her on a lot of levels, I don't think he can do anything about it." We also asked, on a scale of one to 10, how he would rate Elizabeth Mitchell's awesomeness? "It would be a number higher than 10." Word.
