Lost: "Jughead" Review
Advance Review: Lost is a show about time travel and I couldn't be more pleased. I've always been a bit of a geek when it comes to time travel. Doctor Who has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid and recent shows like Journeyman have only heightened my excitement for this often used but rarely mastered sci-fi mechanic. Recently we've seen Heroes completely fail when it comes to using time travel so I was happy to see the writers of Lost use Faraday to establish very specific rules in "Because You Left" – Irish lasses will sleep soundly tonight. Now that it appears our time-hopping island dwellers will be thrown about in the fourth dimension for the next few weeks, it's going to be interesting to see if the writers of Lost can properly infuse this new development into the series. If you thought that after the first couple of episodes the constant barrage of major developments was going to slow down – you would be wrong. We learn quite a bit both off the island and on the island this week about Charles Widmore, Daniel Faraday and Desmond Hume. The veil is lifted on what could be the motivation for both Faraday and Widmore while we also learn why Desmond might want to take a step back and not pursue Faraday's request for help.
Almost every scene in this episode contained some sort of surprise, development or unexpected twist that had my mouth gaping. If you loved "Before You Left" but found yourself slightly disappointed by "The Lie," this episode will renew your excitement. It still amazes me that this show can throw so much "shock-value" at its audience and still keep much of its core mystery intact week after week. I'd be astonished if the rest of the fifth season can maintain this pace but I suspect that it just might.
Along with all the hair-raising twists, "Jughead" does reveal one frightening new bombshell that could spell doom for the survivors who have been left behind. Obviously I'm not going to reveal what it is, but it's another layer of danger that the survivors will have to contend with.
One thing that surprised me is that only two of the characters who appear in this episode were actually in the show's first season. This alone is a testament to the wonderful array of new characters that have been introduced to the show. Jeremy Davies as Faraday continues to amaze me with his performance. His offbeat, nuanced style is wonderfully entertaining to watch. Also, for those who love Desmond and Penny, there are a few moments here that will leave you very pleased.
Time travel opens up a plethora of opportunities that weren't previously available. While "Before You Left" cemented the rules and the nature of time travel in the Lost universe, "Jughead" is the first to capitalize on the concept and have a little fun. There is one encounter that completely caught me by surprise and it wouldn't have been possible without time travel. So, how long until the island sends its inhabitants back to the Jurassic Period? Sawyer riding a dinosaur would be the greatest moment in television history. For some reason, I suspect we'll learn that traveling that far back isn't possible.

Sneak peek epi 5x03
thanks Kristin for those sneak peek and also spoilers !
Spoiler Bonus: There are five people in the clip above. You think you only know three of them (Juliet, Sawyer and Locke), but one of those two Dharma boys is someone we've met before.
my guess : one of them is widmore
Spoiler Bonus: Notice how Faraday throws himself between Charlotte and the mines? That's because he lurves her, and we'll learn all about what that crush means for the Island in this ep.
my guess : well, we know the love declaration will be between them lol
Something to Ponder: Yup, Desmond and Penny have a love child. Care to guess what their wee bairn is named? Post in the comments!
my guess : i know the name it's someone who was important in desmond's life on the island :)

Featurette: 'Lost' Cast Talk and Hint on Fifth Season
A featurette has been released in anticipation of "Lost" 5.03 titled "Jughead". It is a video interview with some of the cast of the show, including Naveen Andrews aka Sayid, Elizabeth Mitchell aka Juliet and Michael Emerson aka Ben, talking about the idea behind the new season.
All three of them hint on what viewers can expect from the fifth season, including whether the Oceanic 6 will return to the island or not, and what happen to the island that the survivors get attacked. Elizabeth in particular said that a lot of the flashback scenes on the island will unravel the people they love but cannot see, thus it will be rather heartbreaking.
"Jughead" will air January 28. Desmond goes in search of a woman who could be the key to helping Faraday stop the island's erratic movements through time, and Locke discovers the identity of the unknown forces who have been attacking the survivors.

Lost's Bosses Dish on "Season of Josh Holloway"
Lost is back in less than a week! And to promote the best little island show since, well, ever (sorry, Gilligan and Ricardo Montalban) the show's big bosses Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse just showed critics episode three of the new fifth season, and ponied up scoop!
So what do you need to know? Well, for starters, the time travel-kookiness is off the charts in season five.
But that's OK. They're making it up to us.
How? Well, according to Carlton: "It's the season of Josh." Yes, to counteract the hard-core sci-fi/physics/time-travel-loop-the-loop stuff this year (Daniel Faraday knows all and boy does he tell all), the writers making sure that Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and his time-travel-loathing testy redneck temperament are front and center to soften the blow. His shirtless chest will also be featured prominently, but let's focus, shall we?
So what extra Sawyer goodness are we getting this season? Read on for that, a sneak peek at episode two and some tease-y goodies about episode three!
According to Carlton, "Sawyer has a lot to do this year." Given that there is so much heavy mytharc development going on, they felt it was important to balance that out element with some character-centric stuff.
"It's important that Sawyer is not a huge fan of time travel," says Carlton, noting that Sawyer will deliver many lines throughout the season criticizing time travel as a concept in general and as an influence on his own life. "Josh is doing a lot of amazing work this year. You could say this was the season of Josh Holloway."
And, yes, the season of time travel. "It is a veritable mine field to do time travel," Carlton admits. "But it's also incredibly exciting. We didn't want to have season five just be a stall. We're going to take some risks, but if we make some mistakes, that's okay. We would rather take the risk and continue to do exciting storytelling."
"Hopefully as season five unfolds you'll realize that time traveling was in the DNA of the show for quite some time," Damon explains. "This time travel reflects a plunge toward the [series] ending."
Meanwhile, when asked if we'll see more of Nestor Carbonell (Richard Alpert) this season, Carlton says "You will," while Damon reveals, "He does not wear mascara. No eyeliner." "The true mystery of Lost," adds Carlton, "is Nestor wearing makeup." (Hee.)
And what about the always intriguing and haunting Benjamin Linus (Michael Emerson)? "Who Ben works for is probably Ben," Damon says. "But the fact is that he is obviously involved with other people, as you've seen in the first three episodes."
"You will see more of [Charles] Widmore," adds Damon, "and part of what we hoped to give the audience this year is some greater sense of the island's history."
So what about the Losties that appear to be no longer living? "You will definitely see Jin this year," promises Carlton. "Claire is not a series regular this year, but her story is by no means over. You will see more of her in season six. Jin will be back. We're not saying he is currently alive, though."
As for episode three, here's what we can spill:
* This episode is an Oceanic Six-free zone. There are no appearances by Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Sun or Aaron.
* The title of the episode ("Jughead") refers to a thing not a person.
* One Islander declares his love and the object of his affection seems surprisingly elated about the announcement. Guesses?
* Charles "Big Bad" Widmore pops up three times in the episode and each appearance is more surprising that the last.
* Is Desmond your hero? If yes, you will be greatly pleased with this outing of the show, in which he totally kicks ass and takes names, even while he largely fails to achieve his declared goals.
* At least two new foreign languages are used in this episode, which means more subtitle funtimes. Apologies in advance to all the dyslexics out there.
* The following is not a line from the episode, but it could be: "Did you come back for your bong?"
Only five days left! (Lost returns this Wednesday.) Can you stand the excitement? Post your joy in the comments!

5x03 : Locke and Richard
Me and my wife watched as both Terry O'quinn and Nestor Carbonell ran from armed men. This was episode 5.03 according to the crew. Someone on set said that the scene they filmed previously was the set up to the shooting and chase and that involved Locke and Alpert running across the island to a rock formation with a square in it from a previous season. The guard said the Alpert character retrieves some sort of device on the way to the rock formation and he uses this device along with the rock formation with the hole in it to discover what year it is. Can you tell me what season this rock formation is in because we are clueless about that?
Source: JD@DarkUFO
I'm not sure which episode they were filming this week but a friend of mine who works at Waimea Falls Park told me this story about the filming going on there this week.
She saw Locke in a big banyan tree. He was in some type of stunt harness and was up in the tree facing the tree trunk. It looked like he was trying to climb the tree. And here's the good part...he gets shot in his upper thigh. She saw Locke's stunt double get into the harness at some point too.
Nestor Carbonal was on set too but she couldn't verify that he did the shooting.
Also, there was a small Cessna type crashed plane at the same set very close by.

SPOILER ALERT! Updated Sept. 3 at 7:24 a.m. HST. The “LOST” production crew was hard at work the day after Labor Day, spotted on opposite ends of the island. At least two units were filming today, one in Waikiki and the other on the North Shore.
This morning, I was directed into Waikiki, where workers were just setting up for a shoot at King Kalakaua Plaza. Under it, to be precise, in the parking garage for Niketown and Banana Republic.
And sitting in the corner, waiting for its cue, was Dr. Jack Shephard’s trusty steed, the old Ford Bronco.

But that’s not all. My wife Jen and I happened to have dinner last night with Dustin and Elvee, visiting “LOST” fans we first met at Comic Con in San Diego. And they just happened to be headed out to the North Shore today.
I encouraged them to stop by the beach set at Papailoa, a.k.a. Police Beach, as I’d heard there’d been some goings on lately. And sure enough, “LOST” was filming there today, too.
Says Dustin:
“Saw Sawyer, Rose, Bernard, Juliet, Miles and Charlotte. First scene we saw had Sawyer, Bernard, Rose, and Juliet. They appeared to be having a conversation in the jungle. Second scene had Charlotte and Miles, going back to camp. We watched for about 90 minutes. According to one of the crew, it was for Episode 5×01.”
I also heard from Carole from Chicago, who sends this report:
We went out and saw them filming a scene with Elizabeth Mitchell and Josh Holloway. We also saw Vincent the dog! The scene had Sawyer, shirtless and in jeans, talking to Juliette. We also think they may have been shooting with “Rose” as well, as when we were walking by, we heard someone ask if Rose was ready and miked up… When we made our way back, security for the property saw us and then walked us through a wooded trail back to our car — because if we would have went back via the beach, we would have been in the shot. As we walked through the woods, we saw some tent-like structures that were probably used at some point for filming. Because we didn’t want to get into trouble, I only snapped photos from far away. I did get a good one of Vincent though!

[CUNNINGHAM] Mid-20s to Early 30s. Any ethnicity. Athletic, used to living outdoors and off the land. He is a loyal soldier but willing to compromise with the enemy to protect his men...VERY NICE CO-STAR. THIS ROLE IS INTRODUCED IN 502 AND HAS 3 SCENES IN 503.
Doc Says: Hello, this would be a hostile in my opinion. So we'll probably be seeing Locke in this episode. Also, 5.02 is alleged to be a Hurley flashback.
What do you think?

Docarzt's spoilers casting calls !
Here is the round-up of the various casting calls that have gone out. Most you've seen, SOME are exclusive right here. Feel free to speculate below as to who you think these characters may be.
Some seem like they could be Dharma era folks. The foremen, could indicate we are going to see a bit of Dharma's first arrival on "The Island". Martha, by description could be the mother of the crying baby in the Chang video.
Personally, I think this all lends to the theory that Faraday is back in time. Could "Desmond Hume is my constant" come into play soon?
LOST, Episode 501 (Role Of Foreman)
[FOREMAN] 40s to 50s, any ethnicity. A blue-collar construction worker. He's worked hard to get where he is and provide for his family. He cares deeply for his crew, hates it when management is condescending and arrogant but ultimately knows his place in the pecking order. CO-STAR.

[MARTHA] 35 to 40, Asian, attractive. A smart, capable scientist with a
strong personality who has taken a break to raise her baby but plans to
work again. Completely believes in the work she is doing but sometimes
questions the decisions of those in charge...CO-STAR, RECURRING
LOST, Episode 501 (Role of Dan)
[DAN] 40s, any ethnicity. A high-priced attorney, someone really sharp
who can be friendly. However, there's a real menace lurking below the
surface. RECURRING GUEST STAR

EPISODES 502 AND 503.
[SOPHIE] British and in her late teens, MUST BE 18 TO PLAY YOUNGER is a
seemingly innocent, prim and proper aristocrat but in actuality she
hides a toughness and ingenuity underneath. Must have English
